SEO company sending me spam

You know, I’ve pretty well accepted that I’m going to have email spam get through to my inbox. Even with Thunderbird’s spam filtering, it still gets through. But today I got a spam message from an SEO company called The Search Doctors and it just hit the wrong nerve.

The biggest problem is why would I hire an SEO company that sends spam. Spam is ruining the internet. And if they’re willing to send me junk email, what other sort of junk methods are they willing to do? And why would I risk my site rankings on these methods?

Second, this guy just writes terrible sales copy. “This is no joke” is not a line that belongs in sales copy. Heck, the first sentence is “I can put your site at the top of a search engines listings”. My first thought is what search engine. It could be his own personal search engine that serves 2 searches a year. And Mike, if you’re too lazy to grammar check the entire 3 sentence spam message you just sent me, at least check the first sentence.

And last, he asks me to reply with the web address that I would like promoted. The domain of the address he just spammed is the site. Not too hard to figure out.

To their credit, they did list an email address ‘If you’ve received this email in error’, but I’m not going to validate my email address to them. I thought about replying and letting them know exactly what I thought, but figured it would have more effect here.

So Mike Harrington of Aliso Viejo, California – STOP SENDING SPAM!
