Digital camera washes ashore with tsunami pictures

A Seattle man performing relief work in Thailand found a digital camera washed up on shore. The camera was destroyed, but the memory card was still readable. On the card was found the final pictures of a Vancouver couple vacationing in Thailand when the Tsunami hit.

John and Jackie Knill’s camera had pictures of the couple enjoying their vacation in Thailand. The card also contained pictures of the deadly wave coming ashore.

Patrick Knill, son of John and Jackie, told reporters that he was overcome with conflicting emotions. But, he did receive comfort from imagining his parents last few moments. “I just picture my parents hugging each other and knowing it would happen and taking pictures. Just in case someone found the camera and it did survive, they’d have something to see.”

The Knills are 2 of 12 Candians confirmed dead from the tsunami, with 13 left unaccounted for.
