A couple feel good stories from the Rita evacuation

Sure, it was miserable being in a car for 12.5 hours. It was worse seeing how some people behaved. That said, there were a few “feel good” moments.

1 - I was surprised how well behaved Houston drivers were during the evacuation. Sure, there were the idiots driving on the shoulder and medians. But on the whole, the drivers were very well behaved.

2 - We drove past a man outside his house on highway 71 with a garden hose spraying water into the air. We didn’t stop, but my guess is that he was offering water to the drivers.

3 - A woman in Bastrop had set up a stand outside her house and was offering free iced tea to people that stopped.
