Sure, it’d be nice, albeit lonely, to sit and blog all day and not have to go to work. Apparently, it’s possible for some people.
Like I posted a couple of days ago, we drove up to Austin to run from the pending doom that the news claimed was coming our way in the form of Hurricane Rita. We didn’t find a gas station with gas until we got to Smithville and didn’t stop until Bastrop. So, we filled up a few plastic gas cans before leaving Austin. Turns out, we didn’t need to. Very few stations were totally out of gas, and we only saw one on the way back that seemed over priced.

I, and 3 million other people from the Texas gulf coast, decided that it wasn’t worth the risk of staying with Rita bearing down. As it turns out, my house came out undamaged and all I have is the experience of 12.5 hours in the car in what should have been a 2.5 hour drive to Austin. If you have a morbid sense of curiosity and want to see what 3 million people driving down 2 interstate highways looks like, I took along my camera and posted a dozen or so images from the drive. Fortunately, I was stopped often enough where I wasn’t a safety hazard.
